Analysis for the elaboration of a sustainability model in urban logistics and mobility of the city of Tulcán

Abstract

As the world population continues to urbanize, cities represent a growing proportion of the national and global economy and the effects of human activities leave their mark on the atmosphere through climate change, it becomes urgent and necessary to find forms of equitable urban management and planning, that maximize the individual and collective potential for society development, and sustainable use of natural resources. Today more than half of the population of the globe lives in urban areas. In Latin America and the Caribbean, this proportion is higher and varies, in accordance with national income, exceeding 80% in certain countries. In most of Africa, the Middle East and Asia the degree of urbanization is still on the order of a third of the national population, but the coming decades will see an inexorable and, in some cases, very accelerated increase in the proportion of the population that has temporary or permanent access to urban areas. Urban mobility and poverty: Aprendizajes de Medellin y Soacha) This analysis seeks to determine the importance of satisfying needs and aspirations of the population of Tulcan, based on three components: social, economic and ecological development, which allow to be expanded in order to establish a sustainable model. For this, a documentary analysis of the evolution of sustainability focused on the environment and preserving the environment was presented, through an adequate use of resources, and analysis with the different areas of logistics and urban mobility, applying strategies towards sustainability. Through the collection and analysis of a series of data, the methodology and techniques that have allowed sustainable results in the field of logistics and urban mobility in different geographical areas similar to that of Tulcán are presented. It is also stated that sustainability in urban mobility requires the use of an adequate transportation system, with moderate energy consumption, that meets established times, non-polluting resources, which is one of the main engines of economic and social growth of great cities in the world.
